Aggregates play a key role in manufacturing concrete masonry units. Tileco Inc. offers an assortment of aggregates, some of which are manufactured here at Tileco, others of which are quarried from across the state. Coral Limestone is transported from the Leeward coast of Oahu. Our cinder is a red porous aggregate quarried from the Big Island.

Our aggregates come in various sizes, the largest being a 3/4 rock. An aggregate described as "3/4" contains rocks 3/4 of an inch in size, though there are a range of smaller sizes within that aggregate type. Something that size can and usually is described as a "number three fine" or "three fine" by trade professionals, although the nomenclature may vary amongst individual quarries.

Tileco's masonry sand is made from coral limestone and meets the ASTM C-144 standard.

Please be advised that we sell our aggregates by volume (cubic yards) rather than by weight (tons). Feel free to contact us or visit our facility for a visual confirmation regarding your product of interest.

MASONRY AND CONCRETE SAND
1 TON = 2000 lbs.
1 yard of sand = 1.3 tons
FORMULA- ( #CUBIC YDS X 1.3 = # OF TONS)
1 yard of sand = 27 cubic feet
1.5 cubic yard is delivered in a supersack
1.5 cubic yards = 1.8 tons

ALL AGGREGATES ARE SOLD BY 0.5, 1, 1.5, AND 5.5 CUBIC YARD INCREMENTS. Aggregates are also available in SMALL PLASTIC BAGS = 2/3 CUBIC FOOT.

CORAL LIMESTONE (color is white)

Formula:
length x width x thickness = volume 40ft x 3ft x .25 (3 inches) = 30
since 1 cubic yard = 27 cubic feet
divide the volume by 27 = # of cubic yards 30/27 = 1.1 cubic yds of material

GROUT MIX

  • 1.3 CUBIC YARDS = 1 TON
  • 60% CONCRETE SAND
  • 40% BASALT #4 FINE (gray man sand)
